POWER Regional Collaborative participants agreed to a proposed structure that would enable the collaborative to function in an umbrella coordinating role and to pursue up to two specific issues that would add value to wind energy development in the region. One topic selected during the December 2003 meeting was to develop a wind farm matrix.
The goal of this activity is to compile information on existing wind farms across the Plains states. The survey would gather as much information as possible regarding each wind farm. [View the survey]
This topic deemed valuable by the state of South Dakota. Some concern was voiced regarding the sensitive nature of this information and appropriateness of making it accessible to the public, not to mention the willingness of wind farm owner/operators to divulge such information.
