Workshops

Complex Well Technology for Earth Scientists/Engineers
Sunday, April 27 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and continues Monday 8:00-10:00 a.m. (At the Holiday Inn)
$300 (Lunch is included on Sunday)

Robert G. Knoll, H-Tech Petroleum Consulting, Inc., is one of the world’s leading horizontal/complex well experts. Bob has more than 31 years of uniquely diverse upstream experience, holding senior operational, technical, and managerial positions in oil and gas projects worldwide. Bob will conduct a multidiscipline review of application screening, design, implementation, and intervention of horizontal and complex wells. This course will help earth scientists/engineers develop the necessary skills to avoid field development failures.

2nd Bakken Core (Due to popular demand, this workshop is being offered a second time during the conference.) - FULL
Tuesday, April 29 1:30 – 5:30 p.m. (At the Holiday Inn) $100

$100 (Lunch is included)

This workshop is limited to the first 50 registrants.

Julie LeFever has 25 years experience as a petroleum geologist with the North Dakota Geological Survey. She has spent a considerable amount of that time studying the Bakken Formation. The core workshop will be beneficial for geologists and engineers wanting to learn about the character and extent of the Middle Member of the Bakken Formation in North Dakota. The cores and discussion will focus on the recent wells drilled in the play in North Dakota.

Optimizing Frac Treatments in the Bakken
Determining Realistic Fracture Conductivity and the Impact on Well Performance
Sunday, April 27 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (At the Holiday Inn)
$100 (Lunch is included)

Mike Vincent (Insight Consulting) and John Kullman (CARBO Ceramics) have a combined total of almost 50 years experience in the oil industry. This workshop will review, in detail, the factors that must be considered to optimize a fracture treatment in the Bakken. Participants will receive extensive course notes summarizing production results from similar fields, in addition to observations strictly from the Bakken. This workshop will review what is known about fracture orientation in the Bakken and will focus on practical techniques to improve the profitability of Bakken stimulation treatments.
