RRWMC Welcomes John Giedt, U.S. EPA, As New Advisory Board Member
John Giedt is the acting Supervisor of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 8 Resource Protection and Stewardship Unit and Team Leader for the Ground Water & Source Water Protection Team. He is EPA's representative to the International Red River Board, the Souris River Bi-Lateral Water Quality Monitoring Group, and the seven states and three regions Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Forum. Giedt also is EPA's Red River Basin Watershed Coordinator for dealing with community-based water quality and ecosystem health matters. He is a commissioned officer with the U.S. Public Health Service on permanent assignment to EPA Region 8 and holds an active duty rank of O-6 Captain. Giedt was born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota, and received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from North Dakota State University and his M.S. in Environmental Health from the University of Minnesota. He held initial assignments with the United States Bureau of Reclamation Field Office in Bismarck and the Radiation Control Program with NDDH. Giedt has been with the EPA Region 8 Office located in Denver, Colorado, since 1977, where he held positions as the Chief of the Environmental Radiation Control Branch and Chief of the Emergency Response Branch. Giedt replaces Stacey Eriksen as the EPA Region 8 representative on the RRWMC Advisory Board. We thank Stacey for her efforts and wish her the best as she pursues new opportunities within EPA.
