The EERC has nearly 60 years of experience working with biomass and other low-rank fuels. The EERC has served as the premier test center in the United States for the development of technologies that utilize biomass in combustion and gasification systems and the development of small biomass energy systems. The EERC has state-of-the-art research facilities with 245,000 square feet of demonstration facilities with pilot-scale units that focus on combustion and gasification of solid and liquid fuels such as coal, oil, biomass, sewage sludge, and slurries.
