Field Validation Projects
From the fall of 2005 to the fall of 2009, the PCOR Partnership will be developing and carrying out the four field validation projects in the PCOR Partnership region. These four field validation projects are designed to demonstrate the effectiveness of CO2 sequestration in different settings and under different conditions. The PCOR Partnership field validation projects are among three dozen field validation projects that will occur in North America as part of Phase II of the U.S. Department of Energy Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership Program.
Starting in the fall of 2007, the Partnership will be developing two commercial-scale, long-term field demonstration projects for geologic CO2 sequestration as part of its Phase III activities.
The region is also the site of the Weyburn geologic sequestration project, active since 2002.
