Dr. Carsten Heide
Associate Director for Intellectual Property Management and Technology CommercializationDr. Carsten Heide, Associate Director for Intellectual Property Management and Technology Commercialization, is responsible for developing and enhancing strategic collaborative relationships with EERC clients, identifying relevant intellectual property for the EERC Foundation, commercializing EERC/EERC Foundation technologies, and leading long-range strategic planning based on EERC technology assets in the context of global market forces. His previous position was in Berlin, Germany, as the head of business development and licensing with ipal GmbH, an intellectual property asset management firm. ipal GmbH services multiple research facilities and universities in the greater Berlin area. Prior to ipal, Dr. Heide was a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group, where he focused on strategic due diligence and value management for a variety of Fortune 500 clients. He also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at New York University with the Department of Physics, in collaboration with IBM, and at the Institute of Radio-Engineering and Electronics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. Dr. Heide received a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Oxford University. He studied Physics at the State University of St. Petersburg in Russia and at the Ludwig Maximilian University, in Munich, Physics and Chemistry. Dr. Heide is fluent in German, English, and Russian.
