Ms. Bethany A. Kurz
Senior Research ManagerBethany A. Kurz is a Senior Research Manager at the EERC, where she conducts and oversees research involving innovative, integrated strategies for water resource management and flood and drought mitigation. General activities include project management, technical report and proposal writing, public outreach, and the development of new research focus areas.
Ms. Kurz is currently managing a project to evaluate the feasibility of temporary storage of springtime runoff in the Red River Basin as a means of large-scale flood mitigation. Past project involvement includes the investigation of mercury stability in anoxic soils, the use of soil vapor extraction (SVE) systems for hydrocarbon remediation, soil flushing with humic acids, and soil characterization using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). Ms. Kurz was also active in the EERC wind energy program, the Plains Organization for Wind Energy ResourcesTM (POWER®). Her activities in POWER included education and outreach, wind resource investigation, wind data collection and reduction, and facilitation of wind-related projects in the region.
Ms. Kurz received an M.S. in Hydrogeology from UND and a B.S. in Geochemistry from Bridgewater State University, Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
