Mr. Bruce A. Dockter
Manager, Fuels and Materials Research LaboratoryBruce A. Dockter is a Research Engineer and Manager of the Fuels and Materials Research Laboratory. His duties include laboratory supervision of physical characterization and standard testing of fly ash, high-temperature characteristics of ash and slag, and determination of physical and chemical properties of coal. He is also responsible for evaluating and modifying facility capabilities for enhancing research programs and graduate student studies. In addition to research work, he also teaches the civil engineering materials testing course for the School of Engineering and Mines at the University of North Dakota. He received his M.E. in Civil Engineering from the University of North Dakota in 1991 and his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the same institution in 1983. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of North Dakota. Mr. Dockter's principal areas of interest and expertise include physical and chemical analysis of fly ash and examination of coal ash for utilization in high- and low-volume applications. In addition, he has also worked extensively in the field of high-temperature research on the physical and chemical properties of coal ashes and slags. Mr. Dockter is a member of the American Society for Testing and Materials (Committees C01, C09, D34, and E50), the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Transportation Research Board.
