From the fall of 2005 to the fall of 2009, the PCOR Partnership will be developing and carrying out the four field validation projects in the PCOR Partnership region. These four field validation projects are designed to demonstrate the effectiveness of CO₂ sequestration in different settings and under different conditions. The PCOR Partnership field validation projects are among three dozen field validation projects that will occur in North America as part of the U.S. Department of Energy Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership Program. The region is also the site of the Weyburn geologic sequestration project, active since 2002.
