CO2 Sequestration Projects in Our Region
The PCOR Partnership is bringing industry, government, and communities together to optimize practical and environmentally sound carbon storage in our region. From 2005 to 2009,
the PCOR Partnership conducted four field validation tests that confirmed the effectiveness of storing CO2
in soils and plant materials at the earth’s surface as well as deep
underground in the different types of rocks found in the region. With the success of the validation tests, the PCOR Partnership is currently participating in two large-scale demonstration
projects that will each inject at least 1 million tons of CO2
into permanent storage deep underground. Additionally, the PCOR Partnership is participating
in other carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects throughout our region at various levels of involvement.
