How Hydrogen Energy Works
A "hydrogen economy" is an economy in which the primary source of energy is hydrogen, which can be produced from a diverse suite of energy sources.

The transition to a hydrogen economy may sound implausible, but it is not unprecedented. In less than 150 years, the United States and much of the developed world have successfully transitioned from wood to coal and petroleum as primary fuel sources. The entry of new energy resources has been driven in large part by economic forces, technological advances, energy demand, and environmental concerns. These same factors will drive the future hydrogen economy.

As with all energy transitions, the transition to a hydrogen economy will take time and occur in phases, involving both government and industry. The NCHT is dedicated to solving barriers facing the hydrogen economy.
