The evolution of the hydrogen economy will require a diverse mix of energy sources,
such as coal, natural gas, and renewable sources including wind, solar, and biomass, to produce hydrogen. As the United States begins to transition to a hydrogen economy,
the overall needs for domestic energy are expected to grow significantly. The development
of fully integrated hydrogen production technologies, especially those that are
fuel-flexible, is an important area of research, development, demonstration,
and commercialization at the EERC.
