Large-Scale Hydrogen Production
The EERC NCHT is partnered with Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne (PWR) to develop, demonstrate, and commercialize PWR's new and compact hydrogen production technology. The goal of this multimillion dollar project is to substantially reduce equipment costs and increase the process efficiency for large-scale hydrogen production (e.g., in refineries) compared with the current steam methane-reforming process. The technology can produce hydrogen from steam and methane (natural gas) as well as from other refinery offgas streams or ethanol.
